Wander Over Yonder's "The Breakfast" had some pretty tough competition in Steven Universe's "Jailbreak," Gravity Falls' "Not What He Seems," and Star Vs the Forces of Evil's "Blood Moon Ball."

My inner cartoon nerd is just shrieking with unrestrained glee. "The Breakfast" is one of the stand-out episodes in the entire series: Fairly simple set-up, but it's execution is incredibly clever. Lord Hater and Wander mirror each other as they prepare for their morning routine. So much shines through in these sequences: It captures and builds the dramatic thematic difference between the two. The most telling scene involves a half-full glass; Wander sees it as 'half-full' where Hater sees it as 'half-empty.'

....I'll just come right out and say it: I got into this cartoon at just the right time. I was going through a really rough rut, it makes me laugh and makes my day every time. I highly recommend checking it out as a 'feel good' toon. Start with "The Little Guy." :D
This is my countdown of the top 10 videos I had the most fun making/working on over the course of 2015.

I couldn't stop snickering at the Scooby and Shaggy "smoke pot" references while watching through episodes of the original Scooby Doo and I make one of my more ornery cracks here about Lewis as the Mystery Skulls fan favorite. Also, it was fun to piece together where Mystery Skulls fits into the tapestry of Scooby Doo's legacy. It falls somewhere between parody, loving homage, and its' own fascinating set-up.

Gumball sneaks in some pretty fun jokes, from references to more mature humor. "The Question" takes the cake by poking fun at one of the most daunting existential questions anyone can ask about the universe, philosopher or no. And the way it's tackled is so ingenious, of course an overanalytical geek on YouTube can't do it true justice.

"Historical Friction" is most famously known for sinking the Pewey fan ship like the Titanic (I'll admit that's when I started treating Pewey as strictly a crack shipping). I wanted to focus on another element entirely; just how freaking interesting Jamie's character role is when looking at Steven U's overall story. He's a character voice for authorial intent or further expressing certain themes. Similarly to how Peridot sometimes plays a loving parody of overanalytical fans.

Last video of 2015. I had waay too much fun with the ridiculous intro and Jillian's "Sliced Bread" song. It fits Lord Dominator in a bizarre way, I guess? Most of the editing process was spent snickering at my own bad joke...

These two beat out Pearlmythest as my Steven U OTP....Gah......

This was pretty much an excuse to talk about one of my all-time favorite cartoons and highlight one of the, arguably, most funny episodes.

I had an intense, irrational fear of cannibalism as a kid....But, as an adult, the topic morbidly fascinates me. A PanPizza video got me thinking about cannibal jokes in cartoons and then things just spiraled out of control from there until I made this ridiculous thing. I'm seriously considering making a follow-up video to highlight/address other jokes I missed.

Also, this is when I first discovered the pitch change filter in Audacity....I have a lame sense of humor. Hence, why I thought it was the funniest thing in the world to add dramatic stock footage and creepypasta piano for...ba-dum-chh, poorly executed atmospheric joke?

This is one of the few crackpot fan theories that's wholly mine and that I have proof to back up! I don't know why Wander gets the overanalytical gears in my mind turning than any other character in the show...

Pearl is my favorite Steven U character. I can't fully express just how satisfying a certain scene in "Back to the Barn" is. After her heartfelt, heartwrenching scene with Garnet in "Friend Ship," this just shows how much more self-confident and self-assured Pearl has become. Or, at least, how far she's come in regards to self-fulfillment. In short: Intense geek session about one of my big favorite cartoon characters.

Despite how much more often I discuss Steven U, Wander Over Yonder is my personal no. 1 favorite in the line-up of currently airing cartoons. This was my favorite to work on and edit, if only because "The New Toy" is my favorite episode. I love Lord Dominator, lovestruck Lord Hater, irate Commander Peepers, and especially the ridiculous live action parody commercial. If you're introducing Wander to friends and don't really pay much attention to plot? Start with this one! It's goofy Lord Hater at some of his best slapstick and antics next to his fare in "The Enemies."
Before I graduated last May, my professor suggested moving on and getting my Master's. Honestly, I don't want to take out any more loans, professor positions are ridiculously competitive, and I have no desire to teach at college level anyway, or in K-12. I tried getting involved with the art scene in a city about an hour's drive away. Art was a part-time position or hobby for most; more artists were losing money than making money. The entire situation was a brutal reality check, one that led to me, well, giving up on becoming any kind of serious artist. Even now, the most I make are doodles and art assets for my YouTube channel.

Last July, I threw my hat in the ring for a painting instructor position. Part of the process involved sitting in on one of the classes, getting a feel for how it'd generally play out. The instructor would lead the students step by step, Bob Ross style, to create a specific painting: In this instance, a city scape at sunset. Everything about that set-up clicked with me: It was fun, informal, a way to get to meet and talk to interesting new people. Those three elements are exactly what I enjoyed most about art classes in college. And, horribly enough, I spent more time talking to the other students than working on my own pieces most of the time.

I was pretty bummed and brokenhearted when I never heard back. I've turned in another application to the one other paint and sip establishment within driving distance; twice, actually. No dice. It's kinda painful to look up "painting instructor" jobs on Indeed or Monster. Every other prospect is a 2 or 3 hour drive away, voxing out what potential money I'd make in gas costs (There was one exception. I'm keeping an eye on that one for now).

There's days I get so frustrated I want to scream: I know what my dream job is. The challenge now is: How the hell do I get said position?!

Hello. I think I remembered seeing you online a few years back when the CN Real block was mandatory back then. Before it actually died. And good cartoons came on the network again. lol

I think this was your first rant video a couple of years ago.

youtu.be/HzWNuChD7sA

It wasn't perfect even by YouTube standers.

But given if you were to remake your old video. You have to put in as much research and source your links so that people will understand where you're coming from without them thinking your making stuff up. lol

I learn this from YouTubers, big and small.

Only reason why I'm saying this now is cause I was thinking of making YouTube videos on my channel soon.

Only problem is that I don't have any video equipment yet and I'm a noob at this stuff.

So any advice before I make videos starting this year?

And fantastic art, by the way? ;)

Yup, that's my cringe-inducing horror show.....:XD:

In regards to getting started making videos, I'd suggest starting with the question: What do you really want to discuss? Identify a specific topic, talking point, or idea, then write and edit a script. From there, maybe start out with a basic video-editing program or a fairly barebones set-up: a series of images or clips that match up with your talking points.

Maybe even map out your video by combining certain things you liked most about other YouTubers' styles and approaches.

Thank you! :)

Thank you! ^w^

This looks fantastic so far! I love your take on Peridot's studious face. It looks like she's getting caught up in a long, technical ramble about the technical components of Livewire's costume.
